Yes, Elvis is dead! But his legend lives to those who love him. Such is the concept of the Day of the Dead art. Here, DEAD ELVIS I is dressed in one of his white sequined jumpsuits and bows to his fans as he performs on stage with mic in hand. It is designed for Day of the Dead fans as well as Elvis Presley art collectors. This print from the original acrylic painting is a "stage stealer'! SCRUB JUNIPERS
The rolling hills of northern Arizona are tattered with "scrub junipers". They create a dotted landscape that is inspirational to this pointillism artist. Colors are created by large rectangular dabs of paint. A unique intro to the land and colors of the West. To purchase original painting or prints go to http://www.denise-landis.fineartamerica.com

Okay! So it's not pointillism! But I have been fascinated with Elvis Presley since childhood. this portrait is one of my favorite Elvis works. Punk is one of a series of paintings on vinyl records. This one depicts Elvis as a sullen punker. Cowboy II is affectionately called "Geezer". He is liked by the ladies (for some reason).
"I love him!"
is a frequent comment heard by female pointillism fans. I think it's the twinkle in his eye that gets their affection. He is created in a modified pointillism style by using complementary colors throughout. Geezer would be happy in any home or office location. He's just simply happy! He has been created in a modified pointillism style of small perfect circles made by twisting the paint brush with each stroke. The black background lends power to the portrait. The blackbirds fill the skies of northern Arizona in the summertime. At dusk, the birds take flight to return to their nests for the cool nights. This image is of such birds on their way home. The sky is ominous with luxurious colors reflected from the setting sun. The modified pointillism is painted with large rectangular dabs pf paint. This painting would be at home in a modern bedroom where preparing for night's rest is a concurrent theme. COLORS
This original painting contains seven canvases, six on top of one large base. Each is gallery-wrapped to add depth. The individual squares depict how complementary colors work in pointillism. The horizontally aligned squares are primary/secondary colors, and the complimentary colors are in vertical alignment. The final measurements are 22H x 28W x 2"D. Not only is it visually interesting to viewers but it's also an in-home color wheel, per se. Learn pointillism with this fun multi-layered painting! The title Cowboy III is a "typical" work's title in a series. However, I fondly call him Stud. This handsome cowboy is created in a modified pointillism style utilizing complimentary colors throughout. The painting is primarily shades of blues and browns. Cowboy #3 or Stud would be a welcome addition to any western focused home or business decor.

DESERT SUNRISE by Denise Landis

Desert Sunrise
48 x 36 x 1.5"
Acrylic Paint on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
$2575
When the sun rises over the mountains in the southwest, brilliant colors reflect off the desert floor and flora creating a rainbow of shades and tints. This daily event passes quickly so I have captured it forever by using my modified pointillism approach of dabbing rectangular strokes onto a large canvas. "A striking artistic contrast for the modern minimalist home decor".

About Me
My father gave me his desire for creativity, however, it didn't really get fostered until my college years. As an artist, I have experimented with various mediums such as clay sculpture and pottery, jewelry making, drawing, and painting. I now focus almost exclusively on pointillism painting. Working with dots and dabs has introduced me to trance-like self meditation. I love it and can get lost in the process for hours. I live in the desert in the fall and winter and the high mountains during the spring and summer. Both natural environments influence my works. I create abstract landscapes, portraits, and objects that capture my attention. My life would not be complete without my art and my mantra is "Art is good for you, me, and the world". I believe that art heals and inspires both the artist and viewer.
